Hello, my name is Fatoumata, and I am currently studying Nursing program, I am in my last semester . I am really excited to finish this tough program. In 2 weeks, I will begin my internship at the emergency room of Legardeur Hospital. This glossary will contain some important words an emergency nurse will need.

- Temporary cessation of breathing.
- Example: Suddenly, the patient was in apnea and we had to call the doctor.

- noun
- Is an inflammation of the mucous membraness of the bronchi.
- Example: In pediatric, we see a lot of bronchitis cases.

- fever
- noun
- A fever is a temporary increase in your body temperature, often due to an illness.
- Example: Over 40 degrees , fever can be dangerous

- heart attack
- noun
- A sudden and sometimes fatal occurrence of coronary thrombosis, typically resulting in the death of a heart muscle.
- Example: Last week, my patient had a heart attack. Unfortunately, he did not survive.

- noun
- An escape of blood from a ruptured blood vessel, especially when profuse.
- Example: After the surgery, he had begun hemorrhaging in the night".

- noun
- Deficiency of glucose in the bloodstream.
- Example: He did not eat all day, and when the nurse did the control he was in hypoglycemia.

- Abnormally low blood pressure.
- Example: The patient was losing consciousness because he was in hypotension.

- Deficiency in the amount of oxygen reaching the tissues.
- Example: She arrived at the hospital because she was suffering from a hypoxia.

- The process of infecting or the state of being infected.

- noun
- Insertion of an endotracheal tube to help an unconscious patient breathe.
- Example: After his accident, the doctors intubated him.

- Physical suffering or discomfort caused by illness or injury.
- Example: The pain was so unbearable.

- noun
- An abnormal sensation , typically tingling or pricking , cause chiefly by pressure on or damage to peripheral nerves.
- Example: The doctor diagnosed this old lady paresthesia.

- noun
- Lung inflammation caused by bacterial or viral infection , in which the air sacs fill with pus and may become solid. Inflammation may affect both lungs, one lung or only certain lobes.
- Example: Pneumonia is one dangerous complications of the Coronavirus.

- noun
- The presence of air or gas in the cavity between the lungs and the chest wall, causing collapse of lung.
- Example: Pneumothorax is a medical emergency.

- noun
- A sympathomimetic agent used as a bronchodilator , especially in the treatment of asthma.
- Example: The patient forgot her salbutamol at home and had an asthma crisis at work.

- noun
- An instrument used to detect and study sounds produced in the body.
- Example: The nurse forgot her stethoscope and her assistant was really mad.

- noun
- Formation of a clot in the deep venous system of the lower limbs.
- Example: When we suspect a thrombophlebitis , the patient needs to do a Doppler(an echo) .

- Example: Sacre Coeur Hospital is one of the biggest traumatology center in Quebec.

- noun
- They are measures of various physiological statistics in other to assess the most basic body functions.
- Example: Vitals signs are the most important information.

- Eject matter from the stomach through the mouth.
- Example: The baby can't stop vomiting , her mom is very anxious.
